Caring for an elderly relative is usually borne out of love – we care because we care.

But caring can also be one of the most demanding challenges we ever face. It asks questions of us in ways that nothing else does.

If we consciously answer those questions, then caring can become a rich source of learning – about ourselves, about the ones we care for, even about others around us.

The more we answer the questions that caring presents in a conscious way, then the more caring for our loved ones can be experienced as a gift to be grateful for, rather than merely a burden to carry.
